Course Descriptions
Honors English attempts to meet the needs of those students who show exceptional talents in English. The basic focus of this class is writing and literature. The writing process is heavily emphasized in the area of persuasion. An overall view of literature is covered in the areas of short stories, dramas, poetry, and novels. Students in this course take very active roles in the learning process. In this honors course, students will be expected to read supplementary materials. Class expectations are extremely high.
CP English is designed to give freshmen a solid background in the fundamentals of the English language. The writing process is employed in the areas of persuasion, narration, description, and exposition. Applied English is a course where students are exposed to basic writing and literature. Emphasis is placed on basic communication skills, both oral and written. The writing process is employed in the areas of narration, description, and exposition. Students will study various types of literature including dramas, short stories, poetry, and novels. This course is designed to provide students with a general overview of English and prepare students for a trade or technical school.
